Today, maintaining a positive outlook while searching for a job is difficult but not impossible.  The key to a successful job search is happiness.

Finding ways to stay happy about life and using spare time wisely is important.  The single most problem with searching for a job in a bad economy is happiness.

The stresses of day to day, family, money, and finance are overwhelming.  The most overlooked positive asset of unemployment is time freedom.  The freedom to do whatever makes the job seeker happy is the key to happiness.  The new time availability gives the seeker breathing room to grow creatively.  The freedom can allow any job search to be customized better.  In unemployment a job seeker can rethink career choices or going back to school.

The long term search will help the job seeker focus on the most important aspects of a new potential job.  This lengthy thought process helps to narrow the application options for the job seeker.  A lower amount of prospective jobs help the job seeker to concentrate on quality of life.  The new focus will also help the job seeker to cultivate a happy lifestyle.

The new time freedom can allow for creativity to flow during extended job searches.  Time to pick up old interests and gain new friends is a positive way to use down time.  The happiness from an active or fulfilled life will translate into more potential jobs and a happier job seeker.  Employers will notice the refreshing attitude of the job seeker and are more likely to hire.

New happiness also translates well in networking for a better career.  Positivity will be a byproduct of a brighter outlook on the current situation and not just future aspirations.  Once a new outlook is established then a more productive job search equals a more positive job seeker.  The hard part about a long term job search is maintaining a positive attitude.

The answer is “repetition” in order to stay positive happy activities must be repeated. For example, if the job seeker is into artwork and has started painting at the beginning of the job search; then they must continue to excel at painting throughout the job search.  The repetition of positive activities created by the new lifestyle will help deaden negatives aspects of unemployment.  Repeating new ideas and activities will solidify the happiness factor for the job seeker instead of being a short lived fix.
