Chapter Nine:  THE BATTLING BEAUTY

Jorhann moved on from Daystom after the battle with 100 evil wizards for fear the people would try to destroy him since so many were protected from their neighbors by the wizards.  Those who had power sustained by evil were about to be dethrones.  Jorhann feared their wrath. 

After traveling for three days, the wizard came to the village of Hathrow where a female wizard named Aarlene was in control of the people.  She was legendary for her feats of magic and her ability to destroy those who challenged her.  Jorhann knew his reputation would no doubt preceded him.  So he transformed himself into a younger and stronger man so he could take her on better. 

As Jorhann entered the village, a celebration was being held.  The people were feasting, singing, dancing, and praising their benefactor Aarlene for the bounty of the harvest and the overall great conditions.  She sat in a tower that overlooked the entire village and only came down from time to time.  Jorhann witnessed one of those times when the village elders approached the tower with a small chest of gold coins. 

The door at the bottom of the tower opened and out stepped a gorgeous woman with flowing black hair and a peaches-and-cream complexion.  Her tight dress pushed up her ample breasts and showed her other curves.  If one didn't know how powerful she was, they might be tempted to have their way with her.  But those who dared do such a foolish act paid with their lives.  Or so the stroies go. 

The leader of the elders said, "Thank-you for all you have done, most beautiful and powerful Aarlene.  I trust this little token of appreciation is enough to have you help us for another year."

Two men brought the chest up to her and opened it.  Inside were hundreds of gold coins which brought a smile to her face. 

"You and the others of this village are most kind.  Yes, I will continue to bring good fortune to Hathrow."

This brought cheers from the celebrants. 

Jorhann approached the woman and asked, "Why isn't a beautiful woman such as yourself married to a fine man such as myself?"

Deathly silence occured. 

The woman smiled and said, "Few men are as bold as you, stranger.  Do you not know what happens to those who do not please me?"

"Tell me, beautiful lady."

"Your continued flattery saves you for now.  But do you not know
