Working at McDonald's is definitely not the coveted top of the corporate chain we all long for. But is it better than eating there? If you work some place that gives you a 30 minute lunch break and just happens to be a restaurant, chances are you will eat there a time or two. This means that if you constantly sample their fine cuisine, working there is going to be a lot worse than merely eating there, since you will eat there far more frequently.
MAKE UP YOUR OWN RECIPES
When I was in high school and was forced to work in a fast food establishment, I frequently made up my own sandwiches, salads, and other variations on their traditional offerings. You can do the same in any fast food restaurant. When you get tired of Big Macs every night, make up the "Big Joe" or "Big Bri" with your own ingredients.
KEEP LOOKING FOR A JOB
Finding a job doesn't mean you're married to it. Chances are if you work fast food you're young and inexperienced in the work force. Take heart in the fact that you will not need to work there forever unless you choose to. Keep scanning the paper for a better job. I went from my fast food job to a job paying over $35,000/year with no college education. My peers asked me how I did it, and the answer was simple: I LOOKED FOR A BETTER JOB AND TOOK IT WHEN I FOUND IT.
By keeping your eye on your ultimate goal and having fun with your fast food work experience, you can survive working at McDonald's, Wendy's, or any other fast food chain.
