Many people spend their lives on diets.  By doing this they find themselves trapped in a cycle of yoyo dieting.  The best way to avoid this is to find a diet that you can stick to.  Listed below are some dieting tips that will help you achieve this goal.

1.  Don't Think of it as a Diet

The reality is that it is not a diet as such but a lifestyle change.  This means that if you embark on an eating plan that does not fit in with your lifestyle or consists of foods that you dislike you will not be able to keep it up.

The best way to deal with this is to take a look at the diet in question and see if you can imagine yourself eating in that way a year or two from now.

2.  Make Small Changes as You go

By doing this you will not be making changes that are too hard to keep up.  Eventually healthy eating and living will start to become part of your lifestyle.  You can do this by focusing on one small goal a week.  This may be by controlling your portion or drinking 8 glasses of water per day.

By the time the next weeks comes around you will be used to this new habit.

3.  Don't Give Up if you Make a Mistake or Two

Everyone has bad days and this is especially true when you are trying to follow a new diet.  It is important that you do not give up if for some reason you fall off the wagon and eat high fat foods.

It is not the end of the world and you can start your diet again tomorrow.

4.  Realize That a Fad Diet is Not Going to Do It

The only way that you will lose weight is by eating properly and exercising on a regular basis.  This means eating a well balanced diet and not starving yourself.

The key word when it comes to dieting is sustainable.  You need to think of eating habits that are going to being sustainable in the long term.

5.  Exercise Can Be Something You Enjoy

While going to the gym is a great way to get fit it is not for everybody.  Something as simple as going for a daily walk is considered exercise.
