I try not to look around,
Or see the mess on the ground.
I don't want to accept what's here,
Because it fills me with fear.
I try to picture a different scene,
Anything to help hold back my scream.
I tilt my head and raise my eyes,
And plead to the god above the skies.
Oh Lord come and take my hand,
Release my heart from Sorrow's land.
Don't let this night be for real,
Call back the blood from this spill.
It can't be me who caused this death,
I would never steal another's breath.
Could this all be just a dream,
A nightmare laced with Hell's gleam?
If I close my eyes will I awake,
On a different day without this fate?
But all I see is a handcuff's link,
Because I drove after that one last drink.

Tired eyes traversing miles
in yawned response and
watering smiles, as midnight
flits to float and fly
and time
Twisted metal lay dormant.
Once fast and gleaming,
Now placid, splattered with red.
A single malt nestles empty,
Somehow
