Benefits of dating older men

Like everything else in life, dating an older man has its perks, and its disadvantages.
I've heard all kinds of perks for dating older men. Well, I'm here to debunk the myths and let you know the truth about these so-called benefits of dating older men.

1. Financial stability: Because these "older" men are supposed to have steady jobs, they are described as "Financially Stable?" Being responsible enough to go to work every day and pay your bills on time is not something that is bestowed upon you when you reach a certain age. And certainly, there is no difference for these "older" men. But, it does help to know you can depend on someone to actually remember to put the rent check in the mail.

2. His oat-sowing days are over: It seems as though supporters of the May-December romances are in love with the fact that these older men are done with their "good times" and are ready to settle down. But again, for so many men, the notion of ever ending their oat-sowing is unfathomable.

So, if these are the advantages, what are the disadvantages of dating an older man?

1. Financial stability: If your man actually is financially stable, it may be great that he has a steady pay check, but if you're younger and less financially established than he is, he may use this to his advantage. Some older men dating younger women believe that because they make more money and have stabilized their finances and budgets, they are superior money-managers and money advisers. Be weary of the older men with the lecture-over-money syndrome. They could just be trying to watch out for you, but they could also be trying to assert their control over what may someday (or has already) become your mutual assets.

2. Oat-sowing days: Although your man may be more inclined to settle down the older he is, if he actually is, the end of this beloved chapter in his life often brings on a slew of other issues relating to his loss of freedom, his choice of commitment, and his new responsibilities.

3. The "Age" Card: Older men always play that damned age card in arguments. It's the lovely and all too convenient move they pull when they smile sweetly, almost sympathetically, and then tell you you're wrong about everything because they have been on this planet for however many years longer than you. Slapping down the age card on the table is his silent implication that he has more experience than you, that he is more mature than you, and that you're age gap will always be present.
