The Butchart Gardens is one of the prettiest gardens in the world.  The woman made wonder is situated in Brentwood Bay in Saanich, which is part of the greater Victoria area in British Columbia, Canada.  The amazing thing about this garden is that it is open all year around, although it is in Canada.  Butchart Gardens has a lot to offer, even in the winter month.

Flowers

The main attractions are of course flowers.  Rhododendrons, Tulips, Narcissus, Begonias, Wisteria, Water Lilies are just some of the flowers you will see.  There are early and late bloomers, so you can expect to see some flowers or berries.  There are 55 acres (22 ha), so a leisurely stroll can take all morning and morning is the best time to go.  The pride of the Butchart Gardens is the blue Himalayan Poppy.

Trees and Shrubs

This is an international botanical garden, so trees and shrubs are in order.  Rhododendrons, Maples, Redwoods, Firs, Camelas, Magnolias are to be found here.  Many bloom in early spring.  The cherry blooms are breath taking in April and May.  Victoria is temperate in climate so some blooms stay for weeks.

Carousel

The Carousel is new since 2009.  It is a fun event for the little ones.  Even the more advanced in age get into the act, as carousels have become few and far between.  The Carousel is enclosed but still has a sense of fun and charm.

Italian Garden
