Product reviews: Cover Girl Lash Blast

Mascara has long been a woe to womanhood. From fighting with clunky brushes to combing excess mascara out of clumpy lashes, any woman who has used mascara knows that thickening one's lashes can be a trying (and expensive) task. These same women also know the exasperation that occurs when their dark lashes are undone and smeared by a few tears or moisture. Thankfully, Cover Girl created an affordable solution that not only makes thick lashes a breeze, but will stay put when you are weeping tears of relief. Enter: Cover Girl Lash Blast Waterproof Mascara.

Cover Girl's brainchild showcases a host of plusses: the formula is hypoallergenic, safe for contact lens wearers, the tube itself is ergonomic for ease of handling, and the shades are flattering for all complexions. Perhaps the best advance, however, lies in the brush.

Cover girl's revolutionary mascara has spawned many copycats with its unique volumizing brush. Although it appears to resemble a funky neon porcupine, this colorful brush has over 50% more bristles versus the leading competitors. These spiky rubber bristles are textured differently than most mascara wand bristles, and this texture makes all the difference. Lashes are significantly more clump-free after use than with traditional mascara wands. Additionally, the combination of the volume-boosting formula and the unique brush make for thick, "look at me" lashes.

Cover Girl's Lash Blast Waterproof Mascara not only looks lush, but it also has maximum staying power. Gone are the days where a few tears or raindrops have the power to ruin your fluttery lashes. The formula also is a champion when it comes to dewy eyes from seasonal allergies.

What goes on, must come off, though. Cover Girl Lash Blast Waterproof Mascara doesn't fail to impress here, either. Their strong formula stands up to water, but gently melts when eye makeup remover is applied. For best results here, use a cotton ball soaked in your favorite remover for ease of usage.

Perhaps the only con to this mascara lies in the design of the threads on the tube itself. After frequent usage, the tube becomes more and more difficult to close tightly. This can cause the mascara to be exposed to air, and it can promote bacteria growth. A simple re-design on the part of Lash Blast's creators should fix this issue, though.

Overall, Cover Girl's Lash Blast Waterproof Mascara is a top contender at an affordable price. Usually found for under $8.00, Lash Blast proves that quality mascara can be had for a fraction of the cost of expensive department-store brands.
