Perhaps you just don't feel 'quite right' in your stomach area; something is just a little 'off'. Or, you have full blown nausea. Whatever the cause, no matter the intensity, few things are more distasteful than feeling sick. Fortunately there are some very effective things you can do to end that feeling as quickly as possible.
Ginger
Ginger has a chemical makeup similar to the powerful anti nausea medicines used in medical settings, such as Compazine. The major benefit here, is that it is natural, relatively cheap and readily available. Ginger ale is available everywhere and can be quite effective at heading off minor queasiness. Just make sure it has real ginger in it and not just a fake flavoring. Ginger pills are usually available in your local pharmacy and sometimes your grocery or discount store. These come in capsule form and, because they can stick to your throat and burn, make sure you drink some liquid before you swallow them and make sure you swallow them with as much liquid as possible. This will lubricate your throat. Crystallized ginger candy is available at health food stores and natural food markets and may be chewed to relieve nausea. Ginger is an anticoagulant and therefore should not be used by people with a tendency to bleed excessively or those taking blood thinners. 1 to 4 pills or a couple of pieces of candy are a powerful anti nausea remedy and are used by many people who experience motion sickness as well.
Peppermint
Peppermint has been used as a tummy soother for centuries and may be all that is needed to head off a bout of queasiness. Peppermint tea is a good choice as are peppermint candies. They tend not to be as powerful as ginger for severe nausea, but work quite well for many.
Chemical remedies
Pepto Bismol or an anti nausea liquid work for many and are readily available. Sometimes this is all it takes to get back to feeling normal. Be aware that Pepto can turn your stool dark and make it look like you are bleeding, so don't freak out if this happens. Wait a day or so and it should dissipate. Check with your doctor, of course, if the discoloration continues. Some people can't stand the taste of chemical anti nausea remedies though and they may even make the problem worse. If this is the case for you, you may try Tums or another antacid.
