Painted walls can help people build a positive frame of mind. This is why painting and decorating a home is important. However, painting can be a daunting task. This is why many people choose to pay contractors to complete the job. It can be a bad idea to have someone else doing the job if you’re on a tight budget. The best option is to consider painting the house walls yourself with little money investment. This way you can save more money for other important things. But to achieve a good looking house, you need to know how to paint and what items are required for a complete finish.
Necessary items:
Natural or synthetic brushes:
Natural bristled brushes are to be used with oil-based paints. If the paints are water-based, these brushes will weaken. New synthetic brushes have been created for both water and latex paints but can actually be used for anything. Always choose the right brush for your paint job for nicer looking wall.
Foam brushers:
These types of brushes can be used for minor paint jobs. They work well and can easily give you a smooth wall. Don’t use them on rougher surfaces or they may get damaged as well as missing areas where paint is required.
Latex Paint:
Newer latex paints are environmentally friendly and dry within an hour. It is necessary to close the lid after every usage or the paint will dry out quickly when it gets into contact with air. Give all paint sufficient time to dry, as per the manufacturer instructions on the can.
How can I avoid mess from paint accidents?
Paint should never be left in places where the possibility of accidents is possible. Accidents always cause a mess on household furniture and will ruin what might have been precious to you. To avoid any accidental coating of paint in areas where it is not wanted, use painter’s masking tape. This is a tape designed to cover and protect areas most at risk from spills. This tape can be peeled off easily after usage and it adheres to all surfaces very well.
To avoid spills, work in sections every day and allow painted areas to dry. Avoid attempting to complete a whole room in one day or it will be an exhausting experience which could put you off from working any longer.
What is the best paint colour for my walls?
Review all the colours you admire and study a whole range of home decorating magazines on those colours and tear out any designs that you find appealing. If you wish to browse the Internet for ideas and pictures, save them in a Word
