How to find time for marketing in a hectic business day

by Murray Lunn

Throughout the daily routine of running a business there is little time to work on marketing with simply too much at the table to complete. Time management is an essential skill of every business owner and employee but what if you're too busy each day that you never seem to have the time to market your business?

Whether you're on a tight schedule or trying to make some extra time these are a few ways you can market your business even during a hectic day:

1. Use Email To It's Fullest

Every time you contact a client or prospect through email, you are given the opportunity to market your business. Suppose you're going back and forth with a client, helping them with technical support. There is no better time to market your client than when you have their full attention. Although the client may be busy with the technical support, going the extra mile to help them out will keep you in their minds and brings them back for repeat business.

Likewise, whenever you send out and email always leave a signature which links back to your business's website or include your phone number and address.

2. Tell A Friend - Better Yet, Ask Others To

Word-of-mouth marketing can be one of the most powerful ways to sell your products or services. Recommendations from friends and family strike a chord with people as oppose to many marketing messages. Encourage your clients to talk to their own community about what your business has to offer!

Additionally, whenever you're on the phone or talking to someone, go ahead and recommend your business. Hey, it's your livelihood on the line so suck up the fear of marketing and get out there to spread your message!

3. Write One Extra Article

When you write an article for the web or in print, you are setting your business up to gain leads and clients for years to come. Even if your article sits at the bottom of search results, people will eventually find it and click through to your link.

As long as you keep your article online, it will be another way to market your business even during the hectic day.

4. Pass Out Business Cards

Wherever you go, be sure to carry around a nice stack of business cards so you can plunk them down on the table, pin them to a board or pass them around to anyone you talk to.

Make your business card stand out and mean something so people don't toss it as soon as they find the closest garbage can. Make sure to tell people what you do, tell them the benefits of doing business with you and slip them a card before
