If you want to lose weight permanently it’s time to forget about diets and quick fixes. Weight loss is a stable process that requires some effort on your behalf but it’s not as difficult as some assume. By incorporating a few essential practices into your daily life you will be able to lose weight permanently. Due to the good habits you will form you might never have to worry or think about the word ‘diet’ again. Here are the essential practices to include in your life.
Eliminate those nasty habits that are endangering your health. Smoking, drinking and taking drugs is not only dangerous to your health it’s also counterproductive when it comes to losing weight. Stick to one or two standard drinks no more than twice a week. Ditch the cigarettes and avoid taking drugs like the plague.
Fall in love with fitness. Running or heading for the gym may seem like a chore at first but within a few weeks you’ll wonder how you ever went without. Exercise is an essential practice for permanent weight loss. It doesn’t matter what type of exercise you do the important thing is to do it regularly, preferably every day, and do it for about an hour at a time varying your intensity throughout the week.
Another essential practice for permanent weight loss is cooking healthy, nutritious and low fat meals every single day. Stock your fridge with seasonal fruit and vegetables. Put whole grains and nuts in your pantry. Fill up your freezer with chicken breast, lean beef fillets, and rich in omega3 salmon and tuna. A healthy diet every day is key to permanent weight loss without repercussions.
Relaxation is as important as exercise when it comes to permanent weight loss. If you find yourself stressing too much learn some relaxation techniques. Meditation and yoga have become very popular and are activities that you should include in your day if you want to reduce your stress levels. When you stress your body produces more cortisol which is detrimental to your weight loss goals.
One essential practice that you may not have thought of is sleep. Not enough sleep makes you feel tired, lethargic, grumpy and slows down the digestion process of food. Make sure that you get at least seven hours of sleep a night and no more than nine. If you miss some sleep during the week, catching up on weekends isn’t going to do any good. Try to get the same amount of sleep every night and it will be easier to achieve permanent weight loss.
