One can not approach the process of happiness without identifying the consequences to all of our actions. But before a person can begin to understand the consequences to an action one must understand equilibrium.
It is believed by Aristotle that those who are happy seek moderation in their wants. It is also apparent in his quote, “Different men seek after happiness in different ways and by different means, and so make for themselves different modes of life and forms of government.” that each person has a different perception of what will make them happy and how to get to what they want.
If we take the definition of equilibrium from the physics stand point we find that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Of course one would only want to apply this to objective and cold stone numbers and facts. Physics teachers would play with their equations to predict what would happen if a balloon weighing x amount of pounds was launched at a variable b speed.
The formula to happiness is really found when the least amount of disturbance of equilibrium is maintained. For example when a loved one dies all the energy and love a person had is now gone. When this occurs to a family the whole family must adjust to a different state of equilibrium. That is just in an extreme example. However the importance of this example is that happiness is not completely within a persons control like many people with the behavioral approach to the subject of happiness will tell. Everyone is subject to unpredictable variables that will effect their state of equilibrium.
Now that it is known that balancing equilibrium is the key to finding happiness it is all down hill from there. The only thing that needs to be touched upon now is knowing how to deal with disruptions by the way we behave to certain variables that are out of our control.
The greatest example of uncontrollable factors that has occurred recently was the economic crisis. In this we find that equilibrium was at play causing the crisis. When untrustworthy people were given great things it can be perceived by those receiving various mortgages, loans, and other goodies that it was good for them. In fact it was so out of control that we are now currently paying for those people's happiness. The good is being unequally distributed as it always seems to go.
In order to be happy now we must point out those mistakes and put a degree of fear into those who are making these dishonest mistakes. If one were to stand back
