Over 19 million Americans are currently suffering from stress and anxiety disorders and stress related accidents are increasing every year. These figures are quite alarming and so is the fact that the word 'stress' is banded about in our day to day lives so casually. With this in mind iase you. vels to try to help to create a more at ease you. vels to try to help to create a more at ease you.
According to research the people most at risk to being stressed are those in employment but this doesn't mean to say that pepole who are unemployed don't suffer from stress too. There have been many studies conducted by psychologists that research into the major causes of stress and it is recognised that the top 4 events which cause stress are (Holmes and Rahe):
* The death of a spouse
* Divorce
* Marital separation
* Jail term
There are also many other factors which can make you stressed, they don't even have to be huge life events but can just be something which is relatively small in comparison to the examples above.
With so many of us feeling stressed on a daily basis it is important to look at ways in which we can reduce our stress levels.
- Is there a solution?-
Sometimes just thinking through the stress issue can help you to find a solution which will cure the stress. Is there something which you can do which will reduce the factor? For example if you're worried about what to do with your finances at this time of uncertainty in the financial market, can you reduce this stress by speaking to a financial advisor or researching online about savings accounts? If you don't find a solution right away sometimes just knowing that you are being proactive can help to reduce the levels of stress you are feeling.
- Exercise-
Exercise is a good way to relieve stress as when you exert yourself in some form of physical activity endorphines are released in the brain which have a natural, uplifting effect upon you. Also exercise can help to make you focus on something else for example if you have had a stressful day at work it can be helpful to go to the gym so you are in a different environment and can focus on burning off some energy and setting yourself targets to reach which can help you to focus your mind on something else.

If you are feeling stressed it is important to try to relax. Take some deep breaths and try to keep your cool. You may find a particular activity relaxing such as having a bath, reading a book or spending time with family.
