Book reviews: Deeply, Desperately by Heather Webber

Deeply, Desperately by Heather Webber is the second book in the Lucy Valentine mystery series.  Lucy Valentine was struck by lightning as a child. Because of this, she lost the ability to read people's auras and isn't good at match making. But Lucy has another skill; she is able to find lost people and things. So if you have lost your keys, your wallet or your spouse, Lucy is the person for you.

In Deeply Desperately Lucy has her hands full. Her first client is a woman who is looking for her daughter who has been missing for two years. The woman believes that her son-in-law is responsible for her daughter's disappearance. Lucy is also working for an elderly gentleman named Leo who is looking for the love of his life, a woman he lost many years ago.

As is she doesn't have enough on her plate, Lucy has to deal with harassing letters, her boyfriend's ex, a annoying reporter named Preston who she is starting to like, and her good friend Em's fiancé whom she is sure is up to no good.

Deeply Desperately is a great novel full of romance and just enough suspense. Lucy is a fun character and her romance with Sean her private detective boyfriend heated up in this book. The path to their romance isn't smooth however because Sean is trying to be helpful to Cara, his ex-girlfriend who is professing to be sick.

Lucy's friends Marisol and Em are featured prominently in Deeply Desperately with Lucy and Marisol trying to prove to Em that her fiancée Joseph isn't the man for her. Lucy and Marisol go to extreme means to prove this to Em, with some pretty amusing tactics.
Lucy is smart, compassionate, loving and funny. She and her cast of characters are well written and well developed.  Deeply Desperately is part of a enjoyable series and hopefully there are more books to come. This series is sure to please readers of cozy mysteries and romances alike, with its fast pace and delightful characters.

The mystery is like and I was able to figure out who was sending Lucy the harassing letters, so I guess this book was slightly predictable. However, it was a great read and should please most readers. The addition of a new family member to the Valentine family added to the enjoyment of the book and I wold like to see more of this new family member in the next book. Hopefully, Ms. Webber will explore a relationship between Aidan and Em also. Deeply, Desperately is truly an pleasurable read.
