Staying thin does not mean that you have to go on an extreme diet or exercise more than is reasonable for an average person. All staying thin requires is a sensible approach to diet and exercise. This means that you can enjoy the foods you love - in moderation.
1. Portion Control
This term is often used by those who are on a diet. It is simple to do. All you need to eat is a portion that is about the size of the palm of your hand. Today most people eat more than they need to. By controlling how much you eat at every meal you can enjoy many foods and either stay slim or lose weight.
2. Exercise
Those that are slim tend to exercise more than others. This does not mean you have to spend all your time at the gym. You can simply walk an extra flight of stairs when you are going to work. All these little changes add up and soon enough you will be losing weight.
3. Eat!
Many people believe that they can lose weight simply by stopping eating. They then go on fad diets that require them to do things like drink soup for four weeks. This is not sustainable in the long term.
If you want to lose weight and keep it off you will have to eat on a regular basis. Instead of eating high fat foods you will need to change you diet to foods that contain a lower amount of calories. You can do this by eating three regular meals a day and two snacks or having six or so small portions a day.
4. Get Enough Sleep
People that stay up into the wee hours of the morning tend to do either one of two things - drink or snack. Both these things contain calories.
Getting enough sleep is vital to both your health and your weight loss plan.
5. Keep Track of What You Are Eating
If you are not aware of what you are snacking on throughout the day you can easily pile on the pounds and not even know it. The best way to avoid this is by keeping a food diary. Those that work with a computer all day can use an online food diary.
