The Kisber Felver is a relatively new Hungarian horse breed that was developed a little over two hundred years ago. Its roots are deeply buried at the Kisber Stud farm, where the owner spent his life producing top of the line thoroughbred racehorses. This farm has the credit of producing a mare that holds a world record winning, of forty-five races in a row.
Hungary has suffered more from the penalties of war than any other country in the world. It has not only affected the country but also a very special horse breed. During the two world wars these awesome horses nearly disappeared from the face of the earth.
The Kisber Felver came into existence when some of the best Thoroughbred horses were crossed with some Arabians, Anglo-Arabians and Trakeners, only naming a few. The owner of the Kisber Stud made sure that these horses maintained a high percentage of Thoroughbred blood, to ensure that the outcome of all their hard work would be a horse nobody dreamed possible.
As I mentioned above, the Kisber Felver dearly suffered due to the consequences of war. Many of these horses were wiped out during this period and by the end of World War 2, there were very few of these animals that survived. Many countries used the Kisber Felver to improve existing breeds, although there were very few who actually worried about preserving them as a breed.
At one point the United States Calvary took a particularly interest in this particular breed and brought many of them to the USA as remounts. After awhile the remounts were no longer needed and were sold at auctions as if there were nothing really to them. Only a select few actually realized the specialness of the horses they purchased.
The main desire of the Hungarian horse breeders was to produce a horse that had the body conformation of a Thoroughbred, that was able to cover distance well and that posed great athletic ability. They also needed to have a workable attitude and to have an even physical and mental balance.
Kisber Felver’s stand around 15.3 to 17.0 hands tall at the withers. They can be any solid color in the book, and are even permitted to be palominos and buckskins. They are also known for being able to participate in any athletic sport with excellence.
So, why not be the next to purchase one of these rare horses that are known as being the prettiest sport horse in the world. It may be the experience of your lifetime to be able to share the special times with one of these magnificent creatures. For no matter what you would like to do, a Kisber Felver would love to share it along with you.
