Songs: School

by Elizabeth Elia

Created on: August 16, 2010

Looking backwards

From whence I’ve come

I remember all the days

Dragging by

But now, what I would give

Just to have one more day

Back there, with all my friends

With all my favorite teachers

Where I knew where everything was

And knew what to expect

In any type or sort of

Situation

The place that would always come to mind

When I imagined my life

A place filled with dreams unspoken

But always within reach, if only you try

The place I grew up

Where I truly and completely became

Me

But now I’m heading off

To a new place

With new people

New teachers

And I know

I’ll make new friends

And have new

Favorite teachers

I’ll learn what to expect

I’ll find a way

Somehow

I’ll survive

But

There’s a problem

I don’t want to leave

I don’t want new friends

I don’t want new favorite teachers

I don’t want to learn

What to expect

But regardless

It’s not my choice

The decision wasn’t mine

For if it was

I would choose,

In a heartbeat,

To stay

I can’t stay

Everyone else is leaving

Going off to different schools

So, I’ll have to go on

Alone

And find a way

Somehow

Someway

To get on with

Life
