Walking by myself
On the sidewalk, riddled with lines
One step after another
Leads me to my destination
My feet walk themselves
I barely see where I'm walking
I've been down this path
So many times, too many to count
Though it has been many years
Since the last time I walked here
I remember quite clearly the way
And as I reach my destination
The place I grew up in
The place where I made my first friends
And learned the quadratic formula
The place where, no matter what happened
Everyone always believed in me
Always encouraged, I grew
Physically and mentally
And now, looking at the school
All these memories flood my mind
No matter though, I am an adult
There is no place for me here
Only my memories
But those can only take me so far
It always leaves me feeling
Empty, a sense of longing
Whenever I think back all those years
I know the problem, I'm sure
It stares at me with truth in its eyes
Willing me to believe, to grasp the concept
Like teachers of before, it doesn't push
Just merely in wait for the realization
The moment when I suddenly understand
And now as I realize
I fully understand that somehow
Someway
I never grew up
Not really

It was such a pain
but there were no chains
