AFTERGLOW
As I lay in a repose I have never known before,
Feeling her gentle breath rhythmically exude its warm air onto my chest,
I know that I have found the perfect balance between sheer rapture and serenity,
She has brought me to a place where even the limitless walls
Of dreamers have yet to scale;
And as her rhythmic pulse of life beats steadily deeper and deeper
Into my heart and leasing the only room in my soul, for life,
My lady, my wonderful, perfect lady, has brought me to a place
No mortal has ever known; I gently run my rested hands
Through her silky, chestnut hair, draping her perfect neck
That I have come to know quite well in my unstoppable desire for this treasure;
I kiss her cotton-soft skin that covers a sublimely sculptured face
That yields to me, an expression of unknown love and untendered peace,
And as I lay back, convinced now, that searches do have happy endings,
Our eyes meet in that paralyzed moment of time when words are superfluous
And only the locked longing to have found one another will convey
Our sense of wonder and awe at what we behold;
I now bask in the afterglow of perfection’s light, of a soulmate’s recognition,
That justice and fairness and unbounded love
May not exist in this world, but does reside in heaven’s special home.
You are mine and I know that God exists, because He has sent me His cherished child
I love you so!
