Ebooks are making the digital waves in the next mass distribution of information online. With that, the formats which have surrounded ebooks have expanded to include proprietary use with portable readers like the Amazon Kindle or even subscriptions for the iPad. Point is, ebooks are downloaded everyday to portable devices now which make use of them even more.
No matter what anyone says, I still believe the book in hand still reigns but what if we can have both? In times, when the physical copy is hard to find, the digital will suffice. So here are some places which you download ebooks to your hard drive without having to pay a penny at all. Perhaps an e-mail address may be something you need to give up but the value is priceless if engorging in great content is at the forefront of your efforts.
1 - Seth Godin, co-founder of ChangeThis, a site which compiles manifestos from up and coming business books, introduces us to the modern portal for spreading ideas and changing minds. He has made popular the term ‘purple cow’ and ‘permission marketing’ that anybody in the business world who hears it will explain for you the explosive idea behind these concepts.
This site is free to join and the short and brief ideas presented in each ebook is enough for you to whet your appetite for more. They’ve been around since 2004 so there’s a lot here for you to consume. Topics range from business, management, finance, marketing, leadership and self-development. The format is presented in a portable document format (PDF) which can be read with Adobe Acrobat or a reader which supports this file type.
2 - The very first site to make it on the scene from the ancient text file towards providing audiobooks and all formats which makes reading easy on your digital device or screen, Project Gutenberg is a volunteer and partnered site which makes information accessible to anyone anywhere in the world.
Unlike the others, this site is not fancy at all. So if you’re looking for book covers and descriptions, you will be disappointed as everything is text-based. Carrying topics from the classics, to out-of-print textbooks of all subjects, you'll find this site is better for research with school work or thesis papers. Overall, it cannot be ignored as it holds importance to the online community who has embraced it since 1971.
3 - FreshWap is more than a filesharing site. It ranges from all types of downloads from the latest applications, games, music, movies
