The simple answer to this is yes. Why? Far too often, you hear horrible stories of accidents that were a result of people using a cell phone. If that is not bad enough, then here is something to look at. People in general have hang up’s, likes and dislikes, resulting in arguments well beyond the scope of being rational.
Going to the extreme, even to being vulgar to each other. Bringing with it high emotions, blinding them with rage. This causes them to forget the main reason of being on the road, loosing control of the situation. Jealousy gets people killed; keeping it mind, there does not have to be a gun involved.
In this case, innocents are the ones being killed, because of the real lack of common sense. Pull over and talk if a situation is apparent, by doing this you just might save your life as well as others. After all, this is a hard fact and what’s worse is yet to come as it can happen to you.
Along with this comes the very idea if founded out, you will be charged with taking a life for a phone call. I am sure this kind of situation is one I would never want to live with, knowing that a family died because of acting irresponsibly. The pain is just too great for the living.
Truly the cell phone is a great tool, but it is only as good as the person using it and to use it wisely. Then when you come to terms, your life will never be the same as you will live with what you have taken away. Penalty by a jury will be severe. It would be a real shame that it has to come to this. A human not caring until it’s too late. As a poet, deciding this debate reflects this more then you can ever imagine.
Just think: the telephone rings as morning dawns. A voice of to whom your not familiar with is preparing you with heartbreaking news. If in truth, as it is beyond recognition, this might be your teenage daughter. “We need for you to come down to the county morgue.” Tears of this man begin to flow throat gasping for air, knees begin to give out, based on just what facts were given, his mind racing with grief.
Turns out while she was driving home from school, hit by another driver who was texting his friend, arguing. This image could happen if you can think it, it can become a reality. After all we are to be reminded driving is a privilege, not a right. So in the eyes of the law many states are doing just that, banning use of cell phones while driving. So to the tone of law to this subject matter, is not of rights it is about saving a life from a senseless act. Remember there are other alternatives: ear piece head sets or pulling over.
