How to formulate your own fitness plan

Formulating your own fitness plan is a great idea to get started in fitness and stick to a plan that is specifically designed to meet your own needs. Fitness is an individual thing. No one activity or schedule works for everyone. We all lead different lives with different jobs and responsibilities which means we also need to have personalized fitness plan. Who better to do that than ourselves.

The first step to formulating your own fitness plan is to allocate enough time in your week for fitness. Look at your schedule and find three or four forty to sixty minute sessions that you can dedicate to getting fit. If you can increase that amount to five or six times a week that’s even better. Once you have these times allocated it’s time to move on.

The second step is deciding what type of activity you want to do. Do you like the water and want to do some swimming? Or maybe you prefer to work out in a dry environment with a group of people? Are you a solo exerciser and would do better off with some running or cycling? Once you’ve decided on the type of fitness you want to do you can make a date with yourself to either run, swim, cycle, go to the gym or do whatever you’ve decided and place it in the allocated time in your calendar.

If you need ideas for fitness ideas check out the Internet and fitness magazines which can provide you with all the information you need. There are plenty of ideas for strength training and cardiovascular workouts that can add variety and fun to your fitness plan. The more interesting and varied your fitness plan the more you’re going to get out of it and the longer you’ll stick with it.

The third step is to get started. Try your fitness plan for a couple of weeks to see whether it works. After this time you should know what you enjoy doing and what you want to do. Tweak it according to your needs so that you will stick to it for longer. Make sure to find new activities every four to six weeks and up your intensity if the workouts get too easy.

Creating your own fitness plan is easy. Find the time, decide on the activity you want to do, change things up regularly and find new ideas from fitness publications. Formulate your own fitness plan and you are more likely to stick with it and reap the results.
