Airlines with the best safety records

by Thu Nguyen

Created on: August 15, 2010

In Legends of Flight, Mike Carriker goes on a journey to show viewers how planes in aviation has evolved. In charge of testing the new Beoing Dreamliner 787, he takes the craft from creation to reality implementing the latest technology and improving what has in the past caused problems. For that, airlines and their craft go hand in hand as the standards of safety becomes improved.

So as passengers, we’re more inclined towards the reliability side than the monetary perspective. Thus, how they screen the passengers to the number of airplane crashes towards the safety of the employees as well as the investigations of accidents all factor into the public persona of attracting future leads. Therefore, where do we go to find out which airlines have the best safety, reliability and satisfaction records?

AirSafe - As the leading site for public travel, you’ll see documentation of the current statistics for air safety plus a plane crash statistics by airline up to 2009 in a compiled table chart by region. Furthermore, if you want to take into account of the statistics in 1-5 year increments, the Airline Safety Records does a better job of telling you what’s best.

JD Power Associates - An awards marketing group, they have compiled the latest North American airline ratings for satisfaction across 7 experiences:

- reservation
- check-in
- boarding
- aircraft
- staff
- service
- cost and fee

Safety as we know it, is what sells when it comes to feedback. There isn’t much else to try if reliability is not a concern for airplanes.

SkyTrax - Rewarding airlines for their outstanding work across many categories from cost, improvement, entertainment and even classes, the airlines of the world are put into perspective as we see who takes home the award for best service. Here, the awards are voted on by customers and not by the employees of the company. Thus, the 2010 A to Z World Airline Award winners provide users an in-depth look at who’s who around the world. This is helpful towards bringing us closer to services which puts standards ahead of satisfaction.

Finally, the Daily Beast has a gallery of the Most Dangerous Airlines in America for 2010 from least to worse. The pictures and their relevant crashes are worth the visit to see. Overall, they made a good point here, incidents and accidents are two things which puts an airline at risk. When it becomes fatal that’s when you should worry.

Last but not least, Flights Gone Bad has more safety news and tips for your next flight out. Ensure that the airline you’re going to fly with is safe and not in the dump file for statistics.
