There is nothing more irritating than getting emails about junk that is not true. It's amazing how many people forward the emails without checking to see if the info it true or not (almost always not true). There are many sites out there that will let you know in a matter of minutes if a piece of information you got is true or if it's a myth or urban legend. Below are some of the best websites for myth busting and tricky questions.

Snopes: Snopes is probably the most popular site to check urban legends. If you got an email that you think might be false info a quick search on Snopes should be all it takes to set the story straight. You probably don't need to go any further than Snopes but your should check out the other sites because some of the info on these sites is very fun and interesting to read.

Urban Legends Online: This is a very informative site for your typical urban legends, but they go a bit beyond and cover superstitions too. They like the creepy stuff like hauntings, ghosts, deadly spiders. A fun site to visit if you like that sort of thing!

Truth or Fiction: This is yet another very informative site which also has a list of the Top 20 stories for the current hour right there on their homepage. You can keep up to date on the latest hoaxes before you even get the emails from your friends!

Break the Chain: This is just another site with a good collection of urban legends and hoaxes including virus warnings, sick and missing kids, health warnings, something for nothing scams and much more!

Hoax Slayer: This site really specializes in email hoaxes. Click on each category on their homepage and you'll see more email hoaxes than you could ever dream up. They really have an awesome collection of email hoaxes.

Darwin Awards: This site is just plain strange! You need a strong stomach to read some of the legends on this site. Bizarre dead. Mutilated animals. Horrible injuries. Not a site for everyone.

American Folklore: This site is a really good one. It's not really a good source for email hoaxes but you will love reading all their stories about tall tales, myths and legends, ghost stories, heroes and villains, campfire stories and so much more! You will find stories you heard as a child.

Before you forward an email to everyone on your friends list, be a really good friend and look the info up to see if it's true! It will only take you one minute to find out if your email contains a hoax. And your friends will be happy you didn't send them junk mail.
