Dream Haze

I woke up groggy in a dream haze

From a life lived while sleeping last night

A green-spotted dog crossed my path

He said, “The café’s up the street on the right”

Am I dreaming again?

This can’t be!

The dog said, “Did you see the green spots?”

Okay, it’s a dream -no more fried squid for me

So I rode a motorcycle

In the dark with no lights

Two phantoms cut me off

Both wearing pink tights!

The phantoms’ jaws were clenched

With ugly claws they came

Then three grannies wearing chaps

Cut them off just the same

“We’ve got this”, the grannies smiled

“Am I still dreaming?” I squealed

“Did you see the leather chaps?”

Then away they pealed

Up the street was a light

from the little café

Where my long lost friend said,

“Come inside, it’s okay”

Wow, what a night!

I’ll be glad to wake up

I need a cup of coffee

But they only have fried squid - for a late night sup!
