Charles Rangel is a liar and a tax cheat. It's odd how the ones who are always clamoring for higher taxes are usually the ones who either pay very little taxes, or cheat their way out of paying the taxes which they owe. Rangel is Chairperson of the House Ways and Means Committee. It's little wonder that this government is so screwed up, with so many at the top trying to cheat the very laws which they helped to enact, and so typical of members of the democratic party.

Rangel owns a luxury beach-front villa which he purchased in 1987 located in the Dominican Republic at the Punta Cana Yacht Club. This is a luxury rental income property which rents for over$500.00 per night in the "off" season, and fetches over $1,100.00 per night during the "in" season. In the 2004-2005 tax year, old Charlie only showed income from this luxury rental of $5,000.00, and for the 2006-2007 tax year, he showed there to be no income at all. This sounded a little suspicious to the National Legal and Policy Center when they looked at Rangel's disclosure forms, and reporters were quickly onto the case.

When this went public Rangel at first denied that anything wrong had been done, but eventually he had to admit that over the years he had failed to report income of over $75,000.00 form this property, blaming his wife for the oversight. Even the $75,000.00 figure sounds suspiciously low. When that tact didn't work, he blamed the language barrier between the two countries. Said Charlie, "Every time I thought I was getting somewhere, they'd start speaking Spanish." I wonder who he meant by "they"? I'd like to talk to them. How about some names, Charlie? Rangel sounds like a racist, as well as a tax cheat.

In addition, Rangel is the tenant of four rent controlled apartments in Harlem, so he has to show an income of under $175,000.00 in order to maintain his "hardship" status for rent control. Sounds like he really knows how to play the system. He also used one of the apartments for an office, which is in violation of the rent control laws. Things continue to look worse and worse for Rangel.

The next time you see your taxes going up, just think of old Charlie Rangel, and how he might handle it. I'm sure he'd figure some way out of paying any tax increase. I think it's time for Rangel, and a bunch of other tax cheating democrats, to step down. If it was you or I who did some of these things, we'd be doing time.
