Best websites for sufferers of obsessive-compulsive disorder

During my twenty odd  years as a therapist I came acrross a lot of people who claimed their problem was depression,  when the reality was that they had something far more serious wrong with them, such as obsessive compulsive disorder, paranoia, schizoprehnia or some other serious problem.    Many potential clients and clients think that if they say they have a depression problem that is acceptable,  they do not want to admit to themselves or others that it is a more serious problem or seem to be weird.

In normal every day life we come across people who have OCD and they often do not see that they have the problem, or wish to admit it to themselves.  Those who have it seriously are totally debilitated by it, often spending every waking moment washing their hands until they are red raw, bleeding and in a lot of pain, or cleaning the house, checking things or performing other time consuming and unnecessary rituals.  Those who do not understand such things simply believe them to be weird and tell them to stop.  If only it were that simple.   The root of the problem may be simple or complicated, it may be that they are perfectionalists and then it escalated and got out of control.

With computers becoming more and more important and normal we now have a lot of websites we can choose from to cover any and every situation or topic we can think of.   As people with serious OCD are often housebound with it, I would imagine they need to use their computer for social contact if nothing else.

Finding a good website that can give them this,  help and understand them was my aim, so I trawled through the many websites available to find this.  There are a few mental health forums that are interesting and free to use,  but the trouble with that is that there are no qualified professionals on hand to support or advice,. and you often get a person who is not qualified or expert on the subject commenting and saying all of the wrong things,  totally not understanding and making the person who has placed the post feel worse.

Eventually I found a very good website that is ideal because it gives a free forum, where you can make friends, get support and advice from other sufferers or past sufferers, but it also offers the expert help and guidance too.  Go to http://www.bestwebsitetherapist.com
