Sir Hootabang Mancus
Sir Hootabang Mancus was an exceptional cat!
Exceptionally large...
Exceptionally fat...
He was lovingly groomed
By the human who roomed
In his rather palatial flat.
In the role of the Master he thundered and muttered
Till his cook came out with 10 pounds of butter
He served his guests exceeding well
By continously ringing his dinner bell
The servants would come and bring him fresh quail
He would have shared with his guests but he was feeling quite frail.
Then voila', the entree' finally arrived
Salmon cakes served with chicken pot pies....
He offered to all a taste of these treats
Then consumed the rest calmly with 10 sweet meats.
During the winter months the stage was set
And upon it Sir Hooty was at his best.
He thundered and yowled exceedingly well
Till all the guests thought they had entered to Hell!
Finally sated from feasting much like Genghis Khan,
He settled down slowly and sleep came on.
Then deep within his catly sleep his angels came and with nary a peep
Began to inventory both the white and
the Many... Many black sheep!

He arrived in my house, a small ginger ball.

With his tiger stripes
Shining green eyes
Watching, quick.
A paw extended,
A delicate lick.
Stretch and leap,
Down to the floor.
Preen soft grey fur,
Just
I sleep, I eat, I sleep some more
I'm always watchful at the door
There isn't anything I miss
Except my empty cat food dish
