The best way to store old comics

Collecting comics can be an investment as well as a hobby. They are of course several ways to tell if the comic is valuable. If you are unfamiliar with collecting them you should first get a guide for starting your collection. After that some people like to choose a particular type of comic. Others just like to collect the ones that have their favorite characters they have enjoyed reading since they were children. Many people grew up with some of the most famous characters, on television and in the movies today, that got their start in comics.

Just to name a few there was and still are Spider-man, Superman, the X-men, and Batman among countless others. They have been around for many years and probably will be for many more to come. The love of such characters and their stories are what captivate the audiences to collect all kinds of memorabilia. Including a popular collectible called the comic book.

When you have collected or want to start collecting comics you should make it an enjoyable as well as valuable collection. After collecting the comics there are several ways to take care of them and store them. Always keep in mind that this is a collection not just something you will want to have for a few days.

Remember to always keep comics in dry places away from moisture of any kind. You will want to keep each comic as close to mint condition as possible. Therefore, if you can resist, only read them once if at all. To much handling will lesson the value and possibly destroy parts of the comic. Some retail stores carry the essential materials needed to maintain your collections. If you can’t find what you need there Comic Stores are available around the world. They should have everything you need for the collecting and proper care of your old comics.

Storing your old comics should be done with utmost care and consideration. You will need a clear plastic comic cover, preferably for each individual comic, as keep moisture out. This will also aid in keeping fingerprints and dust from getting to them. An added measure to take is using a cardboard backing for each one inside the plastic cover. While storing you will need the comic boxes. These usually hold about three hundred comics per box. They also keep the comic in the upright position without letting them move around in the box to get damaged. If you are not going to be using them a lot, as an added protective measure, you could tape the boxes up as well so there are no air holes at all.

These methods should keep your old comics stored without damage. Even so think to keep an eye on them every now and then just in case. If you don’t like the box method you could always go with a metal container or fireproof options as well. Whatever you decide to use for storing your old comics I hope you continue to enjoy them as much as I do mine.
