Ramona and Beezus is a must see movie. It is rated PG. I recently took my four year old granddaughter with me to see this movie. I must say she sat through the entire movie without fidgeting. It is about an average family who find themselves in some financial difficulty not much different from today'ssociety. They have three children the mother is a stay at home mom. They have just decided to add on to their home. The father comes home from work one day to see the construction crew has begun working on the family home. He has some really sad news to tell the family. He has lost his job, now wondering if they should cancel the loan and patch up the hole in the wall of their home. The family had planned on going out to dinner that night, since the construction left dry wall dust all over their kitchen.
Ramona is the middle child with a personality that will make you laugh and cry at the same time. Beezus it the oldest child who finds her little sister annoying at times. Ramona has a closeness to her aunt, on her mother's side of the family. They have a lot in common as she was the younger sister as well. Ramona finds herself in trouble a lot at school and home. She tries very hard to help the family out by trying to make money to save their home. Her father takes a job that requires the family to move away and Ramona and Beezus do not take this very well. Ramona even tries to run away from home at one point in the movie.
In the end, Ramona helps her father obtain a job that he will not only love but is very qualified for. She does what she set out to do and that is save her family and their home. Just when Ramona thinks her world is falling apart and her family she gets everything she dreamed about. She is rewarded more than she could ever imagine. It is a movie that will pull at your heart strings and one that shows how far a family can go when they stick together.
This is a movie that can give inspiration to any family who may be struggling in these times. It can give you hope and compassion for the thoughts of what goes on in the eyes of a child and the strong will of someone so young who has a heart of gold.
