Andrea couldn't believe what she was seeing.
Before her stood a tall, broad-shouldered man wearing an expensive suit. He was strikingly handsome, with short golden hair and beautiful green eyes. His name was Jeff. He could have been a model.
Andrea was crushed.
"I'm sorry." he said.
The two first met through a website called"ImOkUrOk.com, which pronounced itself to be "a dating site for average people". Andrea didn't expect a lot out of the men she was looking for- average was okay with her. She was immediately drawn to Jeff when she came across his profile. His pictures showed a short man with thinning hair who didn't look like he got a lot of exercise. After they started chatting on-line, Andrea learned a lot about Jeff, and she liked all of it. He lived alone, he worked as a produce manager for a grocery store, and he spent his free time reading science fiction novels. He was perfect, and Andrea was more than happy to accept his invitation when he asked her to meet face-to-face at The Lucky Duck Lounge.
But now she stood in the middle of the lounge, frowning and angry in front of this well-dressed, perfect, male specimen.
"I'm sorry Andrea." Jeff said again. "I should have been up front with you. I just didn't want to be judged based on how I look or how much money I make. I wanted someone to like me for who I was on the inside, so I made up all that stuff on my profile as a way to filter out the shallow people."
Andrea's jaw tightened.
"So you're not a manager at ShopSmart?" she asked angrily.
"No," Jeff replied. "I'm an Oncologist at Bolan-Moore Hospital."
"It was all just a lie," she said, almost to herself.
"Like I said Andrea, I'm really..."
She cut him off. "Save it," she snapped as she turned and left the lounge.
On the way home, Andrea thought about her latest on-line dating disappointment. Jeff was handsome, confident, intelligent, and successful.
She would never be able to manipulate a guy like that into killing her husband.
