If I Had Wings
If I had wings,
I’d soar high above the earth
above the trees, above the mountains,
lost in the clouds,
leaving all my troubles far below.
If I had wings,
my spirit would float up to the heavens,
light as air, as I shed
all the ugly turmoil of my earthbound life,
to sink into the sea below.
If I had wings,
my heart would take flight,
free as the birds in the sky,
unburdened by the cares and strife,
that plague the wingless beings left below.
I’d spread my wings out wide,
let the cool breeze waft me here and there,
so high above the noisy, crowded cities,
the soulless malls and highways,
now strangely peaceful down below.
But my wings lift me only in my dreams.
Tethered to the ground,
awake, I’m wingless still,
not flying high above the clouds,
just stranded here below.

Possibilities - Naani Poem
Butterfly wings
carry the tenderest things,
like a child's dream
seeking its first flight.

Oh that I were a winged dove
Chopping through the ebony
Of evening
Toward your window
Would it be open for me
That I may
“Under your wings”
Under your wing's Lord will I abide
Help me to seek your face all the days of my life
Lord,
