The English coast has a number of exciting resorts in both the north and south. Be it in the South East, West Country or the North-West. These are some of the more notable potential coastal holiday destinations in England.

North Devon:

The West-Country includes some of the finest coastline in England. With this, it has some of the finest beaches you will find. In northern Devon there lies a number of top Blue-Flag beaches that tourists flock to during summer. Beach highlights include the likes of Croyde, Woolacombe, and Westward Ho. These beaches are great for water-sports, and have long stretches of sand. The dramatic coastline of northern Devon is also great for coastal hikes along the cliffs, particularly with the national park of Exmoor in northern Devon.

Torbay:

For all the top beaches in northern Devon, south Devon cannot be overlooked. This is particularly the case along the stretch of coastline of Torbay. Aside from being of geological interest, Torbay includes the sea-side towns of Torquay, Paignton, and Brixham. These have a variety of sandy beaches along the Torbay coast, as well as coastal paths and gardens. Torquay is the larges town of Torbay, and so has a few interesting attractions such as Living Coasts which is beside the Torquay marina. In Babbacome there is the Babbacome Model Village and Gardens which includes a delightful collection of minature model buildings set in colorfully picturesque gardens. The renovated Torre Abbey is also now open and has gardens set among the ruins of the Torre Abbey. Beyond Torquay in neighboring Paignton lies Dartmouth steam railway and boat company, Essentially, this is steam train that links Paignton to Dartmouth, but also includes optional river trips along the River Dartmouth. The Torbay region also includes boat trips and tours of the Torbay coastline. So overall, for coastal holidays in England Torbay is worth visiting.

Cornwall:

The coastline of Cornwall has some of the longest stretch of coastline in the UK. As such, you can expect to find some great beaches in Cornwall that include a number of award winning Blue Flag beaches such as Portmeor Beach in St Ives. This particular beach is great for surfing, with surfing tutorials, and is also beside the Tate Gallery which showcases modern and contemporary art. St Austell includes the nearby Eden Project, with its giant green house and tropical gardens, as well as good beaches.

Blackpool:

In the north Blackpool is England's top sea-side resort. Ideal for a coastal holiday, Blackpool has sandy beaches alongside the Blackpool promenades and piers. While the Blackpool Tower largely dominates the skyline, its roller coasters also reach the heights and are among the biggest in England. Overall, the Pepsi Max Big One reaches approx 213 ft. In the autumn the Blackpool Illuminations also light up the promenade into the early winter months.

So, these are a few potential coastal holidays in England. Such places as north Devon, Torbay, St Ives, and Blackpool are all suitable destinations for a holiday on the coast. With coastlines of geological interest, award winning beaches, and some great views of the surrounding landscape they are worth a trip.
