Secrets to Stimulate and Improve Your Brain Power to Become a Scholastic Super Star
“Mom, I want to be valedictorian of my class.” Maria was a high school freshman and the only person in her junior MENSA club who did make freshman first semester honor roll. She showed me her come from behind four-year plan explaining what she wanted.
“There are good athletes and then there are super-star athletes. They all have drive, but top athletes have an edge." Is there an herb or vitamin I can take to help my brain work better and improve my memory? Most everyone knows about memorization, making notes, meditation, getting plenty of sleep and exercise and brain foods and herbs. What I want is something more, something nobody else knows about.”
Marie’s Modus Operandi was the product of her “something more, something nobody knows about” challenge.
1. Stop smoking and avoid people who do.
University of Michigan researchers proved smoking lowers thinking ability, speed and accuracy and adversely affects memory, problem solving and IQ. Two of the more than four thousand toxins in cigarettes are arsenic (rat poison) and hydrogen cyanide (gas chamber gas). Both sedate mental capacities making your brain lethargic, sluggish and drowsy as if functioning in slow motion.
2. Sit straight and breathe deep.
Meditate on diaphragm breathing; in through the nose, out through the mouth. Several deep breaths before and during a test can relax you. Got a creative discussion or problem-solving situation or debate? Alternately block one nostril then the other while breathing in one and out the other.
3. Strengthen your brain.
Right handed people, use the left hand more. Switch the computer mouse to the left, use your left hand to write your name or alphabet, brush your teeth. Work clay, playdough or plasticine to relieve stress and to stimulate creativity, strengthen and encourage new neurological connections.
Knowing the brain is a muscle we figured it could be exercised. Researchers were just beginning to realize simply thinking about exercising a muscle will strengthen it, Why not the brain? Some of the brain exercises we developed are:
Imagine your brain pumping up, lifting weights and getting stronger. Imagine your brain with neuron fireworks or flashes and sparkles of neurons firing back and forth across the surface, jumping across its bumps and folds. Visualize electrical lightening arcs that play across sleepy memory
