Any website that has been optimized following the right steps and the right guidelines is a SEO compliant website. It is the job of the search engines to enforce compliance with the right guidelines. The right guidelines in this case mean White-Hat SEO. Ethical search engine optimization or White-Hat SEO refers to all tactics that the search engines deem acceptable. Websites that have been optimized using White-Hat techniques benefit from many things.
Visibility on SERPs
A SEO compliant website gets more visibility on search engine result pages (SERPs). Websites that have been optimized using abused techniques (Black-Hat SEO) get penalized by the search engines. As a result, they do not appear on the SERPs. Therefore, they do not get the exposure and visibility compliant websites get.
Targeted Traffic
Due to the high rankings and visibility compliant websites get, they generate huge amount of web traffic. More importantly, traffic from the search engine is targeted and free. Normal visitors are like window-shoppers. They are not truly interested in the products or services you offer. Targeted visitors, on the other hand, are like buyers. They are interested in purchasing what you offer.
Many websites use different techniques to drive targeted visitors. These techniques are usually not free and they do not have a cast-iron guarantee. White-Hat SEO is a free, guaranteed way to drive targeted traffic. Only websites that use ethical SEO take advantage of this.
Effectiveness
There are other methods to generate web traffic to a website. However, there is nothing more effective than using ethical SEO. Imagine that an offline business is advertising on a newspaper. The result might not be effective because not many people read newspapers. There are others that read magazines or watch the news.
The same goes for ads. When people see ads, they feel that they are being targeted. Thus, they try to protect themselves and they call this “customer conscious defenses”. This is the reason why not many people click on ads.
Search engines are not like newspapers because all people use them everyday. Search engines claim about 90% of all traffic. Hence, the “free advertising” compliant websites get on the search engines is extremely effective.
New Ideas
When a website has good rankings, Internet users find it through many different keywords. Sometimes the website is found through keywords or key phrases that the owner has never focused on. When tracking results, the website owner can know all of the keywords and see what people actually search for and what they need exactly. This is a breeding ground for new ideas, products or services.
The aforementioned are four advantages of a SEO compliant website. All websites that use White-Hat SEO and avoid Black-Hat SEO or Gray-Hat SEO (questionable tactics) will never get penalized. Complaint websites have a spotless reputation on the search engines.
