It's important that we recycle our used ink cartridges and laser toners. Millions of empty printer ink and toner cartridges get thrown away and end up in landfills. It is estimated that only 20-40% of inkjet cartridges are being recycled, people are still throwing 60-80% of them in the bin. Because these cheap inkjet cartridges are made from plastic, petroleum-based products it can take 1,000 of years to decompose. Incinerating them is even more catastrophic as they release toxic petroleum related and heavy metal chemicals into the air we breathe.
Cheap printer Cartridges are costing the earth more as this kind of waste is filling up millions of cubic feet of landfills per year and costing the taxpayer more. Recovering and reusing inks helps diverts millions of cubic feet of material from waste disposal, saving us the millions of pounds needed to pay for additional landfill sites.
