If Christians bringing much needed medical help to little traveled parts of Afghanistan, are considered there to proselytize, and the Taliban’s response to their good deeds are to mercilessly kill them, then the Taliban is providing their Muslim brothers and sisters with the best argument for turning to Christianity. Perhaps this would not be the case if the Taliban were to occasionally read the book in which they profess to believe. Throughout the Holy Qu’ran, one is enjoined to multiply good deeds. Moreover the Qu’ran states there is no compulsion in religion and to kill one person innocently, is as if one killed all of humanity. It further states to save one life is akin to saving all of humanity. Now one must ask, who was acting more Muslim? Were the Christians who were in Afghanistan to save lives acting more in accord with Islam and their Christian faith, or their wanton killers who have long beards, but no good deeds to point to, and spread nothing but regression, death and destruction? What about Islam don’t they seem to understand? They are the true enemies of Islam.
In Islam, the worst sin one can commit, is to ascribe partners with Allah. The Qu’ran tells us that is the one unforgivable sin. In a very real sense the actions of the Taliban and those of their ilk, are acting as if they are in partnership with God. They claim their actions are for the sake of Allah, but Allah doesn't need their help. Allah is quite capable of protecting his religion. He doesn’t need their help. If people like the Taliban, and I use the term people loosely, are acting for the sake of God, one must ask, which god is that? Islam came to liberate people, not to subjugate them. Under Islam women gained full equality. As nurturers, when you educate women, you educate the nation. Afghanistan is so backwards because under Taliban rule, women weren’t educated and were largely confined to their homes, where they were under their undereducated husband's rule. There is nothing anywhere in the Qu’ran that requires a woman to wear a burkah, the tent-like outfits that women are required to wear under Taliban rule. Taliban is Arabic for student, yet the Taliban obviously don’t study the one book that they should. If they did, their actions would be the antithesis of what they are.
All of Islam should be up in arms. Muslim must reject out of hand the actions of the Taliban, and other so-called radical Islamist who misrepresent their religion. Islam is viewed as a religion of terrorist by the uninformed because of the misdeeds of those who profess Islam while acting totally contrary to its dictates. Islam claims to be the religion that God preferred for all of mankind and states as much in the Holy Qu’ran. This notwithstanding, Allah states in his holy book that there is no compulsion in religion. In other words, one is free to believe or not to believe. Muslims the world over are fond of saying, “Allah and his messenger knows best.” If the Taliban and others of their ilk were true believers they would act differently.
