All around me the flame rises higher
The heat melts my skin like chocolate tossed in a fire
I do not ask, "When is this going to End?"
The reason is more than I can comprehend
I can hear them screaming now, "Listen to the Word!"
But it's to late for my thoughts to be heard
The stubbornness of my own intellect is all I have to blame
"I believe! I believe!" But no one hears the thoughts I proclaim.
The spear pierces my side, "O God, When will this end?"
Blood drips down my cheek like rain on roof tin
Poor innocent creatures will follow my verse
"Why was I blessed with such a spectacular curse?"
Are they right and I am wrong?
These thoughts of doubts will not last long
I feel the warmth rush over my soul
This body I can no-longer control
So beautiful is this little one
Illuminated by the rare mid-night sun
They come from all over to see with their eyes
This most glorious - beautiful - miniature - prize
With virgin ears a baby is born
Only I can hear the whispers, the sneers and scorn
I cry "Why me?" and "What will I do?"
Then softly the hand of Gabriel reveals a simple "Thank You"

Where is that first drop?
Has it evaporated like an impoverished dream?
Perhaps it's in the minds

last night i died and went to heaven;
there were no gates of grace;
no streets of gold; no great white throne;
no judgment there
My hell was never born up in God's highest Heaven.
God's unleavened bread in me was not yet applied.
