If we all knew the answer to this question then our lives would be pretty simple..we would not think we have found 'THE ONE' only to sadly discover after much time and effort that it was in fact lust and not love at all that we felt for the said person.

Having said that, we need to have many 'lust' relationships to truly find someone that we can honestly say we love. And these 'lust' relationships can bring us a lot of pleasure and happiness.

Telling the difference between the two is not always easy and u can experience a lot of hurt and heartache in the process of trying to figure out exactly what you are feeling. I would like to believe that love is something very special between two people. It can grow with time, be a slow growing process or it can hit you smack in the face! When you truly love someone, you don't need to question it. The feelings you have are so strong and powerful. That person plays on your mind 24/7 and no matter what they say or do you will always feel the same about them, warts and all. Love goes hand in hand with trust, compromise, passion, happiness and respect. But not all things in love are plain sailing. It needs to be worked at to be kept.

Lust on the other hand, is the feeling you get when you see someone in a crowded room and know you have to have them. What happens next can happen two ways: You get them, and then after a few weeks realize their annoying habits irritate you and you know its time to take them off the pedestal you had them on . Or, you get them , have a short but passionate fling and move on. But, every now and then they creep into your thoughts and can make you smile.

Let me end though with this, every person is different, every relationship is different and every persons relationship is different to the next. Only you truly know when you are in love or in lust. Only you truly know when you are happy and when you have met someone that even after your first wedding anniversary still gives you tickles in your tummy, who still catches your eye across a crowded room and someone who still knows what your going to say before you even open your mouth. Thats love and love is your best friend and at times your enemy.
