Prior to its incorporation in 1683, Stow, MA was called Pompositticut Plantation. Volunteer for the Town of Stow

The Town of Stow often has several volunteer opportunities available for various committees. Offering such fun activities as Concerts on the Common and Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, the Stow Lions Club is committed to community service. In addition, they are steadfast supporters of Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund, Inc. as well as the District 33K Lions Eyemobile. This vibrant group of men and women are doing their part to help the residents of Stow, MA.  Whether it is collecting pennies or offering scholarships, this group encompasses the Lions motto "We Serve".  Volunteer opportunities are plentiful with the Stow Lions Club, from leadership positions to helping organize and staff various fund-raising activities.

Red Acre Foundation

For those who are committed to the health and safety of horses and dogs, the Red Acre Foundation may be able to use your help. This foundation started in 1903 as the dream of a young woman committed to helping abused horses. This group provides grants to various rescue operations to help protect both horses and dogs.  From their website "On January 20, 1906, Red Acre Farm was incorporated as a Massachusetts Public Charity. For the next 94 years, it was known as Red Acre Farm, Inc. Its work rescuing horses continued to grow through the early years of the twentieth century, and the impact Miss Bird made was noticed." The foundation continues today on a significantly scaled back version.

The Stow Community Chest helps provide direct assistance to residents in need of food, medical care and other basic necessities.
