The Hoyas of Georgetown University have produced a boatload of NBA talent over the last few decades. Georgetown has been responsible for the development of several talented big men, particularly great defensive presences. The best NBA players from Georgetown University are led by five All-Stars, including three of the greatest centers of all-time.

Patrick Ewing:

An elite center from the 1980s and 1990s, Patrick Ewing is one of the best NBA players from Georgetown University. After leading the Hoyas to their first and only NCAA Championship in 1984, Ewing became the face of the New York Knicks for more than a decade. For each of his first 13 seasons with the Knicks, Ewing averaged at least 20 points per game, topping averages of ten rebounds in each of the last nine. He was the NBA's 1986 Rookie of the Year and a perennial All-Star, earning spots on 11 teams in his career. Ewing ranks among the all-time top 25 in points, rebounds, and blocks.

Alonzo Mourning:

Another great center for the Hoyas, Alonzo Mourning was an elite defensive player and a top NBA player from Georgetown University. Mourning was drafted by the Hornets in 1992, playing three seasons with the team and posting averages of 21 points, ten rebounds, and more than three blocks per game. A tenacious defender, Mourning spend the majority of his career with the Heat, winning back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year Awards in 1999 and 2000. Despite having his career interrupted by a kidney condition, Alonzo Mourning still blocked enough shots to rank in the top ten in NBA history.

Dikembe Mutombo:

Like Mourning, Dikembe Mutombo was an elite defensive center and one of the best NBA players from Georgetown University. In 18 NBA seasons from 1991 to 2009, Mutombo spent five years each with the Nuggets, Hawks, and Rockets as one of the best interior defenders in league history. With 3,289 career blocks, he holds the second highest total since the NBA began recording the statistic. He won a record four Defensive Player of the Year Awards which has since been matched, but not topped.

Allen Iverson:

Former MVP Allen Iverson was a high volume scorer and one of the best NBA players from Georgetown University. Iverson was drafted by the 76ers in 1996, winning the Rookie of the Year Award and four scoring titles with the franchise. In 2001, Iverson won the NBA MVP Award as he led the Sixers to their first NBA Finals since 1983. His career 26.7 points per game scoring average is the sixth highest career average in NBA history.

Sleepy Floyd:

An All-Star point guard for the Warriors, Sleepy Floyd ranks among the best NBA players from Georgetown. Floyd played in the NBA from 1982 to 1995, spending six seasons with the Warriors and six with the Rockets, plus limited time with the Nets and Spurs. Floyd enjoyed his best years in Golden State, averaging 17.7 points and 6.7 assists per game and earning his only All-Star appearance with the team.
