Raspberries are a fruit which may be part of your healthy diet plan. In a one cup serving size of these tart berries, there is 60 calories, zero fat grams, 14 grams of carbohydrates, and zero grams of cholesterol.
One of the vitamins that is found in a serving of raspberries, is the vitamin A. Vitamin A is good for the building of the immune system along with playing quite a large role in eye health. This vitamin has also shown to prevent cancer cells from their continual division as well.
Raspberries are also an excellent source of manganese which they have 1.24 milligrams of this trace mineral. Manganese is needed by the body in a lot of ways for processing many of the key nutrients, and it helps in digestion of proteins and fats. Manganese also plays some small role in the regulation of blood glucose levels along with the proper function of thyroid.
I think that raspberries also offer one of the higher sources of vitamin C besides oranges and tangerines. Raspberries have 30.76 milligrams of vitamin C which is excellent. Vitamin C not only helps the immune system in fighting off colds and flu viruses, but up to a point, it has been known for fighting cancers, and collagen production for the bones.
You will get 8.34 grams of fiber from eating raspberries which is excellent. Fiber is a nutrient that serves the colon for roughage, adding bulk to stool. Not only is fiber good for keeping a person regular, but it can also help a person to lower their cholesterol levels as well.
Raspberries have 31.98 micrograms of folate in a serving size. Folate is a water soluble vitamin which promotes healthy cellular production, as well as it works on the processing of homocystine in the body, which is a type of amino acid. Studies have also shown that this B vitamin type has been known to prevent birth defects.
There are some other vitamin Bs in raspberries, which are vitamin B3, niacin, which is a cholesterol lowering vitamin, and vitamin B2, which is riboflavin. The vitamin B3 niacin count in raspberries totals 1.10 milligrams, and vitamin B2 count is 0.12 milligrams. Vitamin B2 which is riboflavin, works on breaking down glucose in the body, and it also plays roles in the metabolizing of fats.
Some potassium is also found in a serving of raspberries which equals 186.96 milligrams. Potassium is our central electrolyte in the body which we can't live without. It not only balances fluids in the body, but it also provides us with muscle energy, and regulates both blood pressure and heart beat.
Seeing all that raspberries offer your health, try incorporating them into your diet soon. You can mix these in with plain vanilla fat-free yogurt, or top off your breakfast cereal with them as a couple serving ideas. Any way you have them, your health will be that much better for it!
