Weymouth, MA is one of the oldest communities in Massachusetts. The original name was Wessagusset, having been renamed to Weymouth in 1635. During the industrial revolution, Weymouth developed a strong manufacturing presence which can barely be found today. Residents in and around Weymouth are fortunate to have places to volunteer in Weymouth, MA allowing them to give back to their community. Here are a few of them.
Weymouth Art Association
Whether you are interested in helping others perfect their painting, sketching or drawing skills or you have a desire to share your own art work, Weymouth Art Association offers some great volunteer opportunities. Providing residents of Weymouth and the South Shore with opportunities to display and sell their art work, artists in this group have won numerous awards. The associations leadership committee is always seeking new volunteers.
Weymouth Lions Club
The Weymouth Lions Club, like other clubs in District 33K is committed to serving their community. This vibrant group is not only activity involved in the activities of District 33K, but they also contribute significantly to charities and local organizations. A recent donation involved a Merlin Color Video Magnifier to the Tufts Library, Weymouth to enable those with visual impairments to make use of all the library has to offer. The ongoing commitment of the Weymouth Lions Club is to involve those in the community who live up to the Lions motto of "We Serve".
Weymouth Elder Services
As people age their needs for service often increase. The Weymouth Elder Services division offers many opportunities for you to reach out and help those elders who are in need. Whether it is driving a van, helping to deliver meals, becoming a pen pal or helping with minor home repairs, you have the unique opportunity to be of assistance.
Homestead Landing Civic Association
If you are interested in movements which help communities "go green" then you'll find just what you are looking for at the Homestead Landing Civic Association. This group holds annual events including "bridge to bridge" cleanup projects. They also work with a number of neighborhood groups to help promote recycling, beautification projects and more.
