Poetry: Asking why

by Courtney Baker

Created on: August 05, 2010

There are too many words that line my lips

The questions that follow on their coat tails are the answers

They pile up so high that the clouds are down below

They start with what have I done with my life

Is that hallow shell my refection or someone else's

Why can't I start again I see that second chance in the open

They continue with how could this happen to me

I've lost and gained everything so fast

Why can't I find happiness here today and feel it tomorrow too

They proceed with you are gone and I am waiting

This world has been so harsh but I can take it

Why can't you return to stay next to me

They finish with some questions are but questions of the soul

I've traveled and found answers but none have made me whole

You ask why but the answer is why life should be questioned at all
