Brett Favre retiring from the NFL again

by Leroy Coffie

Created on: August 04, 2010

Brett Favre has decided to retire for the fourth time today. This is not news to NFL football fans. Brett Favre retires every year, only to come back when training camp is over. Brett Favre is old and he does not want to have to deal with training camp. He was injured last year and he is still recovering. Will Brett Favre be back this year? Probably, he will be back. Do we know for sure? With Brett Favre, we never know what he is going to do for sure.

ESPN has spent their entire day with the Brett Favre story. When Brett Favre speaks, ESPN listens. ESPN is like the soap opera channel for sports. They are the paparazzi of sports. ESPN always wants to get all the sports scoops first. They know news about Brett Favre gets viewers and viewers make ESPN money. ESPN treated the Brett Favre fourth retirement story like it was the only important news in sports. A-rod not hitting his six-hundredth home-run was boring everybody to death. Who cares about a cheater reaching another milestone anyway? What about the Rays slipping by the Yankees to take over first place in the American league east? This is a feat that is unimportant to ESPN because the Yankees sell and the Rays don't. The Brett Favre story is important to ESPN. So important, they forgot to report the rest of the sports news all day today.

The question is did Brett Favre really retire for the fourth time? Vikings tight-end Visanthe Shiancoe told the media Brett Favre texted some Vikings players about his retirement plans. Is this true? Who knows for sure if this is the truth. Vikings head coach Brad Childress said Brett Favre hadn't told him anything about his plans to retire. Brett Favre was supposed to release a statement to the media this afternoon about his retirement, he did not do this. This is a never ending saga of Brett Favre retires/Brett Favre does not retire. Brett Favre loves to be in the news. He loves to be the center of attention. It does not matter if Brett Favre retired or did not retire, he is the news today.

Brett Favre had his best statistical year last year for the Minnesota Vikings. He passed for thirty-three touchdowns and only seven interceptions. Brett Favre led the Minnesota Vikings into the playoffs. He made a good team much better. Brett Favre is one of the best all time quarterbacks in the NFL. He has only won one Super Bowl, but he has had an awesome career.

Do not believe Brett Favre retired for the fourth time. Do not believe Brett Favre even if he comes on the television and tells you himself. He has done this three times before. If Brett Favre does not have a Minnesota uniform on in September, than you can finally believe Brett Favre has retired. Until that moment, when somebody else is throwing footballs to Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin on September 9th against Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints, than you can believe Brett Favre has retired. Until that moment, ignore all the news about Brett Favre. Do not believe Brett Favre retired for the fourth time. Do not believe me when I tell you and do not believe ESPN. Especially, do not believe Brett Favre. He probably does not know (for sure) himself.
