Even the most famous television series must, one day, come to a bitter end. Sometimes that end occurs abruptly due to cancellation or with good terms with the audience leaving a good ending with many fan-fiction material available to the still curious fans. Law & Order, a twenty year old TV series that enthralled its audience with drama and mystery. The fact that some of the shows were based on actual crimes made it seem very realistic; however, the actual outcomes in court were of course fiction. The show, producers felt, was staggering and losing its fan base due to repetitive drama elements, fearing that after twenty years of material, it would be harder to keep folks interested. Regardless of who felt what, NBC, the network the show airs on, is canceling and to this day there has been no press release on the current stance, if there is a change, on re-airing and allowing another season or two; however, NBC states that the show is going to have a "spin-off", which be Law & Order Los Angeles.
Lindsey Vonn greatly disagreed with any fear of a boring later season and had launched her campaign to continue her favorite show be back on air soon. Lindsey Vonn, winner of the Gold Medal in the 2010 Winter Olympics and a full time ski racing athlete, displayed her passion for bringing back her famous show by starting and updating the Facebook group simply known as "Save Law and Order". The group currently has over 27,000 fans and is continuing to be spread online through Facebook. The description states that there should be a united voice in saving the show. Vonn, who had made a guest appearance on the show, was extremely excited and tweeted backstage about how excited she was to be on one of her all time favorite shows. Her Facebook group campaign sparks others to create similar groups both online and off.
Still using only the internet to advance her campaign, she has even saved a few tweets on Tweeter to help carry her message along her followers. So far, the numbers for her cause is growing, but there is still murky waters ahead for the Olympic Gold Medal winner and Law & Order die-hard fans; NBC, being a major network, is not likely to back down and change their mind. She hopes, according to interviews by the Huffington Post and various rumors online through Yahoo News to AOL News, that her group will show NBC that the original show is great as is and should remain airing new episodes.
Unbeknown to the ski star, some Yahoo groups, mostly international in the UK, Canada, and India, are also campaigning for the same cause using other social media sites such as Hi5, MSN and Yahoo groups. Similarly, Facebook itself has three identical groups known as "Save Law and Order" and several others with various names that demand NBC allow the show to continue while others threaten its writers with shame and being "sell outs". Overall, Vonn's hopes of raising awareness of the show's cancellation process has triggered a general public interest in fighting to keep the old, unchanged, Law & Order show; whereas, some welcome the exciting new show that will replace it.
