Protecting yourself from online work-at-home business scams

by Mouhcine Azizoun

Due to the Internet, more and more people are looking for new ways to make money online.  Many eager novices look for information and business opportunities online.  Scammers take advantage of that to generate income.  This is why many people fall victims to bogus online companies that promise them wealth and relaxation.  Learning how to protect yourself from online work-at-home business scams is paramount nowadays.  But how can you do that?  In this article, I am going to show you how to do just that.

The First Rule is: ‘if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is’

If there is a website promising you that there are 25 ads daily on the website and you will get 2$ for every ad you click on, then be sure it is scamming.  If a website promises you to get $25 for every survey you take, then be sure it is scamming.  If it is too good to be true, then it is not true.

Work at home business scams try to get as many victims as possible.  They want to do that fast.  So they promise something unrealistic.  This unrealistic thing can drive visitors really fast before they think it is a bogus website.

The Second Rule is: ‘do your research’

Whenever you come across an online work at home business, make sure you Google it.  There are many forums online specialized in scamming and scammers.  The forums system is similar to Product Recommendation Networks (PRNs).  In such networks the buyers express their opinions on the products they like.  On the forums, however, victims write about their experiences.

If you Google the name of the company of the name of the person, you may find some people discussing it on such forums already.  You can also register and ask about the company or the person.

The third rule is: ‘hold your money tight’

In the world of online marketing, you need to hold your money tight.   You do not need to do that with scammers only, but also with others legitimate companies.  If it sounds too good to be true and it asks you to pay money, then be careful.

The Fourth Rule is: ‘there is no fast way to make money online’

The generality of those who fall victims to work at home business scams were looking for a fast way to make money online.  There is no get-rich-quickly system.  There is a lot of hard work involved in online marketing.  If you really want to protect yourself, then you need to forget about all the hype of getting rich online.

The aforementioned are 4 rules that will help protect yourself from work at home business scams.
