WWE Friday Night Smackdown is going to be needing some new Main Event faces into the fold. Kane has recently become the World Heavyweight Champion possibly sending a signal that anyone can reach that point. You can only do the same matches on a regular basis before it is labeled as stale or boring. There are some names that could be potential Main Event wrestlers assuming they are still on the brand of course. Everything is always subject to change.
Drew McIntyre is one that does seem to be getting pushed towards that point of being near Main Event status. It’s not a matter of if it will happen but when exactly. He has been going with his “Chosen One” persona since being endorsed by Vince McMahon in the storyline. It should be noted, though, that he has been in a bit of a mild slump due to not winning major matches anymore. If the WWE does decide to go for another heel to step up to the plate, he may be the call to go for that position.
Christian is one that has been around for years and has yet to have a major world title run in the WWE. If you count the ECW Title as such, then maybe that would be a point not taken well. They do not seem to be looking to get him up to that position but could use another face for the Main Event scene even if it is a fill in role. He could take over the role of being a potential face challenger for the championship. He’s held about every other championship he could at this moment in time. The only thing left would be to have a brief run with the World Heavyweight Championship. That’s assuming that the World Title is staying on Smackdown on a more permanent basis.
Kofi Kingston could be used as a Main Event face. He is one that the WWE really needs to start pushing a bit more than they do. That would mean giving him more high profile matches in Main Event situations. Personally, it would be a good idea to get another face going for the World Heavyweight Championship. He has the potential to make it to that point so why not give it a test to see if he can handle it?
With Smackdown losing The Undertaker on a more regular basis and Rey Mysterio needing surgery, it would be time to get some new faces for the championship. Time is of the essence and the established names are getting to a point that they may not be able to go as well as before. In other words, names like Undertaker and Triple H for example are at the point of near retirement. It is time to see if they can finally start pushing some new faces in the WWE.
