I was in girl scouts for the last part of Cadettes and the full senior term, and we did a brief overview of the new studio 2B agenda girl scouts is taking on. Honestly, I think that those new topics are needed today. Even when I was little, sex, drugs, and all the rest of this was starting to go mainstream. Now, if you walk into an elementary school, even a private one, you will hear swearing and children talking about topics we didn't go over until at least later middle school. Also, having homosexual friends or family is becoming more usual, so it shouldn't just be assumed anymore that marriage is between a man and a woman. Kindergarten I agree is a bit early for that, but if nothing else teachers should make it seem like just an alternative lifestyle, in case there are any children adopted by a gay or lesbian couple. The younger girl scouts still do all the patches that the older generations did, it isn't until Cadette, maybe Junior level that the Studio 2B agenda begins, which is when its brought up in schools.
